Pierceton is located in Kosciusko County which is in northern Indiana. It was named in honor of President Franklin Pierce, our 14th US President. It became an incorporated town in 1866.

What makes your community unique or special - something only locals would know or appreciate?
One of the things that makes Pierceton truly special is its culture of serving others. It's a community where neighbors genuinely look out for one another. Our local businesses, through the Chamber of Commerce, don't view each other as competitors. They support, promote, and celebrate one another's success because they know a thriving community benefits everyone.
That same spirit extends beyond business. Throughout the month, several organizations provide free community meals, ensuring everyone has a place at the table. We also have a local food pantry and a community cabinet stocked with essentials for anyone in need. These acts of kindness may not make the headlines, but they're the things locals appreciate most and the reason so many people are proud to call Pierceton home.
Are there any annual events, traditions, or landmarks your town is especially proud of?
The Pierceton Tomato Festival is the largest event of the year. A few thousand people visit for food, entertainment, scavenger hunt, and a 5K run. Tomato sandwiches and fried green tomatoes are always available along with other food and treats made with tomatoes.
Another festival tradition is the Pierceton Days Festival which focuses on a different theme every year. The festival includes food trucks, vendor booths, children’s activities, a car show and a parade down State Road 13.
If someone were visiting for the first time, what’s one place or activity they absolutely shouldn’t miss?
Visitors shouldn’t miss the opportunity to explore Pierceton’s unique local shops and restaurants. Our community also offers a great place to spend time outdoors at the community park, which features basketball, pickleball and tennis courts, disc golf, a walking trail, and playground equipment for children. It’s a great way to experience both the charm of our downtown and the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere of our community.
What led you to choose FREY Municipal Software for your community’s needs?
We chose FREY Municipal Software because we knew our current software would eventually no longer be supported. The replacement option presented by our existing provider was significantly more expensive and included features and “bells and whistles” that our small town simply did not need. FREY offered a practical, user-friendly software solution that met our community’s needs while providing pricing that was much more suitable for a small Indiana town.
How has FREY’s software made an impact on your daily operations or residents’ experience?
Our residents love the convenience of being able to view and pay their utility bills through the online portal. They also appreciate having the option to receive their bills electronically by email. For our office staff, one of the biggest benefits has been the ease and efficiency of posting payments.
What would you tell another municipality that’s considering partnering with FREY?
The best benefit of switching to FREY has been having our own dedicated representative who is always there to help. Whether we need training, creating reports, or fixing a problem, our representative is there to help us through it all. That level of personalized support has made a tremendous difference for our small staff.
