At FREY Municipal Software, we offer both on-premises and hosted installation options, and each has its own benefits. We won’t push you toward one or the other; we’re happy to talk through your needs and help you decide which fits your operation best.
What is the difference between on-premises and hosted?
The main difference is where the software “lives”. With an on-premises installation, the software runs on a server (or computer) that your operation owns and maintains. With a hosted (cloud) installation, the software runs on our servers, and you access it through a web browser or virtual connection.
Is the software different?
No. We built our hosted solution to mirror our on-premises solution, so clients who move from one version to the other don’t have to learn a whole new program.
Is there a cost difference?
Yes. FMS Hosted carries an additional cost, but in many cases that is offset by not having to purchase and maintain the servers an on-premises installation requires.
