Farnhamville Iowa Puts Their Trust in FREY Municipal Software
Nestled in Webster County Iowa, Farnhamville Iowa put their trust in FREY Municipal Software when their prior vendor lost it. Plotted in 1881, Farnhamville was originally named Farnham, but postal authorities refused to accept the name so Farnhamville was settled on.
Joe Roberts, City Clerk, shared some fun details about their City and why they chose FREY Municipal Software.
What makes your community unique or special - something only locals would know or appreciate?
The one thing that makes our community special is the way we can all come together in good times and the bad. We are an older community that has been around for quite a long time but is also starting to get young families. The older members who have been here their whole lives are very welcoming and helpful making sure everyone has an opportunity to be a part of the town and its events.
Are there any annual events, traditions, or landmarks your town is especially proud of?
Each year around the 16th of August we have our founding celebration known as “Old Settlers Day”. We have a parade, games, and a community meal at our park with other small events happening all throughout the day. It is put on by the community for the community bringing back many families who may have moved away in the past but grew up here.
If someone were visiting for the first time, what’s one place or activity they absolutely shouldn’t miss?
The last couple of years we have taken one of our parks that really hasn’t had much use in the past and put up a military tribute to honor all those who have fallen for our country. Our town’s American Legion post does a lot for our community and for those who served in the military. Otherwise I would have to say our Library as we have one of the best Librarians around. She does a lot for the kids here in town and has a lot of learning events and crafts all throughout the year.
What led you to choose FREY Municipal Software for your community’s needs?
I liked the idea of having an outlook on what prices were going to be for budgeting purposes and the software itself, though looks like a lot, is actually very easy to use and set up for you and your city. Another thing that helped me choose FREY is the fact that I have a number and email of a tech that can get back to me right away or answer my questions quickly compared to the ticket system that can take up to a week to hear from someone.
How has FREY’s software made an impact on your daily operations or residents’ experience?
FREY’s software has made things more streamline and easier to use compared to the previous software. Things are a lot simpler and very intuitive. Once you explore around the modules a little it all starts to come together and your able to easily figure things out and have everything you need right away instead of having an elaborate report printing system.
What would you tell another Municipality that’s considering partnering with FREY?
I told others looking at FREY that the experience itself has been amazing. The tech support has been phenomenal and the transfer of data has been relatively seamless. The learning curve of the software so far has been easy and more or less common sense when you get down to it. You can do a lot with the software and even if you can’t figure something out, you have a direct contact with a person that can help you get it fixed right away and no ticket system needed.
