La Vernia TX, benefiting from FMS for 10 years and counting!
Early settlers from Spain and Mexico claimed tribal lands from Native Americans along Cibolo Creek in Texas. In the 1840s, settlements were created in the hopes of establishing cotton plantations closely followed by immigrants from the Prussian Empire. The settlement was initially given the name, “Post Oak”. When it was discovered that this name was already in use, the name was officially changed to La Vernia. Today, the City of La Vernia is a community located just 30 minutes from downtown San Antonio, Texas. It offers a friendly suburban feel with ‘big’ city amenities.
The City of La Vernia has been a FMS customer for 10 years using both BUCS Fund Accounting and CHIPS Payroll systems. The City Administrator at the time selected FMS because of their prior positive experiences with FMS and its software.
Jenny Begole, Finance Administrator, is a valuable asset to the city’s finance department. Having lived in La Vernia for many years, Jenny has built a solid rapport within the community. She has a strong background in accounting from her roles in the private sector which includes work with the San Antonio Auto Auction.
