A Warm Welcome To Mike 🙌

Meet Mike Afterkirk, the newest Associate Support Technician at FREY Municipal Software. Mike is a graduate from University of Kentucky with a bachelors in Accounting and Finance.

He previously worked at Wayfair in Service Management as well as Citigroup as a Unit Manager. This strong background in customer support is a wonderful addition to the team at FREY.

Let's get to know Mike a little better!

1. What drew you to working at FREY Municipal Software?
   1. "Selecting FREY was an easy decision for me because it checked all the boxes of what I was looking for in a company. I was drawn to the fact that it’s a family-owned business that has been passed down through generations, which speaks to its stability and values. During the interview process, it became clear how family-oriented the team is and how genuinely they care about their people. The number of long-tenured employees also stood out to me—it’s a strong indicator that FREY values and retains its talent. With over 10 years of experience in customer support, this opportunity felt like a natural fit that also allows me to leverage my background in accounting, holding a bachelor’s degree in the field."
2. What part of your role are you most excited to dive into?
   1. "I’m most excited to learn the various systems and become an expert in them. Each system offers extensive functionality that truly supports our customers and enhances their experience. I’m looking forward to on-boarding new customers and building lasting relationships with both new and existing clients. I genuinely enjoy learning and interacting with customers, which makes this role especially enjoyable and rewarding for me."
3. What's your go-to comfort meal after a long day?
   1. "My go-to meal after a long day would be anything grilled or smoked. I really enjoy grilling, whether it’s some barbecue chicken or a tender steak. I also love smoking meats—anything from pork and ribs to wings or beef brisket. To go with the meat, I like a loaded baked potato, macaroni and cheese, and some homegrown green beans."
4. If you could have dinner with any historical figure (real or fictional), who would it be?
   1. "John Wooden - I am a huge sports fan and would love to hear some of his messages directed at how to be a success in life as well as in basketball."
